Working with Rigid Resin-ESD

Is Rigid Resin easy to machine?

Drilling, tapping and light milling are possible but the part is brittle and the glass filler is abrasive — use sharp carbide tools, low feed, no coolant soak, and extract the dust (respirator required).

Can Rigid Resin be welded?

Thermoset: cannot be welded or reflowed; join with cyanoacrylate, two-part epoxy or UV-cure adhesive, and screw into heat-set/threaded inserts rather than tapped resin.

Can Rigid Resin be formed, bent or molded?

Printed on SLA/DLP/LCD at 385–405 nm with a heated (30–35 °C) tank; shake/stir the cartridge because glass filler settles, then IPA wash 5–10 min, dry, and post-cure under UV at 60–80 °C per producer schedule to reach datasheet properties.

What surface finishes work on Rigid Resin?

Sands and primes well; bead-blast or 400–800 grit for a uniform matte, then use a UV-blocking primer/topcoat since bare photopolymer yellows and embrittles outdoors — electroplating requires a conductive base coat.

Rigid Resin-ESD — frequently asked

What is Rigid Resin-ESD used for?

Rigid Resin-ESD is typically used for engineering prototypes with thin walls, jigs and locating fixtures, brackets and mounting plates, low-volume mould and tooling inserts, ducting and manifold prototypes and heat-exposed under-hood test parts. In short: stiff glass-filled resin.

What is the tensile strength of Rigid Resin-ESD?

Rigid Resin-ESD has a typical tensile strength of 50 MPa (7.25 ksi) — stronger than 53% of polymer grades. Strength varies by condition: see the 9 listed tempers.

Is Rigid Resin-ESD easy to machine?

Not especially — machinability is rated fair (40/100, worse than 81% of polymer grades). Drilling, tapping and light milling are possible but the part is brittle and the glass filler is abrasive — use sharp carbide tools, low feed, no coolant soak, and extract the dust (respirator required).

Can Rigid Resin-ESD be welded?

Not readily — weldability is rated not recommended (3/100). Thermoset: cannot be welded or reflowed; join with cyanoacrylate, two-part epoxy or UV-cure adhesive, and screw into heat-set/threaded inserts rather than tapped resin.

What surface finishes work on Rigid Resin-ESD?

What is the maximum service temperature of Rigid Resin-ESD?

Rigid Resin-ESD is rated for continuous use to about 70°C (158 °F), and briefly to 150°C. Strength falls off well before that limit — check the elevated-temperature data for load-bearing parts.

Can FabDigit make parts in Rigid Resin-ESD?
